my friend my love i've got to leave you now / to go to the town where i was born / my friend oh, my love i've got to leave you now to go back to the town where i was born / to where my mother and my father wait for me to come back home to them / to where my mother and my father wait for me to come back home to them / and i know that it will break my heart, oh i know that it will break my heart / i'll have to go over the mountains / from where i came to live with you my dear / but my heart will be heavy and my legs will fail and all the valleys will be filled with my tears / and all that's left now is just that tiny bird you gave to me / to lead my way back home / and all that i could give was just my heart and a kiss and the tears that i cried on your shoulder / all that's left now is just that tiny bird you gave to me / to lead my way back home / and all that i could give was just my heart and a kiss and the tears that i cried on your shoulder...

Folky and sparse on the face of it, but there's a richness and emotional gravitas to this EP. I've spent some time trying to figure out how that was done but it's still magic to me, really. mcharper
